LNB Round 11 (Regular Season): Metros edge Indios by two points

The most exciting game of round 11 in the LNB took place in Santiago. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Indios (6-6) to first ranked Metros (8-5) 100-98 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Indios. Metros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Juan Guerrero (203-1993) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Jhery Matos (196-1996, college: Charlotte) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized American point guard Eddy Polanco (193-1994, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Metros maintains first place with 8-5 record. Indios at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. Metros are looking forward to face Marineros (#6) in Puerto Plata in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Indios will play at home against Reales and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Puerto Plata. Third ranked Caneros (7-5) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Marineros (6-7) 79-76 on Tuesday evening. Yeison Colome (190-1996) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Eusebio Suero contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Sydney Curry (203-2000, college: GCU) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for Marineros. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Caneros moved-up to second place. Marineros at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Soles and Titanes. Caneros will play against bottom-ranked Leones (#8) in Santo Domingo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Marineros will play at home against the league's leader Metros (#1) and hope to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Santo Domingo between Leones and Titanes. Eighth ranked Leones (5-6) got a very close home victory over 4th placed Titanes (6-7). Leones managed to escape with a 3-point win 87-84 on Monday evening. It was a great evening for Trahson Burrell who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Leones' coach Eulis Baez used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Richard Bautista responded with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals. Leones moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Reales. Defending champion Titanes keep the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Marineros and Soles. Leones will meet at home league's second-placed Caneros in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Titanes will play against Soles in Santo Domingo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 11 Reales were defeated by Soles in Santo Domingo 101-96. Caneros were beaten by Indios at home 71-89.

Leones - Titanes 87-84

A very close game took place in Santo Domingo between Leones and Titanes. Eighth ranked Leones (5-6) got a very close home victory over 4th placed Titanes (6-7). Leones managed to escape with a 3-point win 87-84 on Monday evening. It was a great evening for American swingman Trahson Burrell (201-1992, college: Memphis) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Jaison Valdez (188-1995) helped adding 7 points and 9 rebounds. Leones' coach Eulis Baez used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Richard Bautista (185-1997) responded with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals and swingman Jassel Perez (195-2001) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Five Titanes players scored in double figures. Leones moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Reales. Defending champion Titanes keep the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Marineros and Soles. Leones will meet at home league's second-placed Caneros in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Titanes will play against Soles in Santo Domingo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Santo Domingo where 6th ranked Reales (5-6) were defeated by seventh ranked Soles (6-7) 101-96 on Monday. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Reales' 40. It was a great evening for American guard Tristan Jarrett (193-1998, college: Jackson St., agency: Sport Avenir) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Luis Martinez (196-2000) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Soles players scored in double figures. American point guard Taz Sherman (184-1999, college: WVU) responded with 30 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Michael Henry (198-1995, college: Buffalo St.) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Soles moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Marineros and Titanes. Loser Reales dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Leones. Soles will meet at home Titanes (#4) in the next round. Reales will play against Indios in San Francisco and hope to secure a win.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Indios' (6-6) road victory over 3rd placed Caneros (7-5) 89-71 on Sunday. Indios looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Luismal Ferreiras (200-2003) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Edgar Sosa (189-1988, college: Louisville) helped adding 28 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American power forward Torren Jones (206-1994, college: William Penn) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Eusebio Suero scored 11 points. Four Indios and five Caneros players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Indios went down to third position due to points difference. Loser Caneros dropped to the second place with five games lost. Indios will meet at home Reales (#7) in the next round. Caneros will play against Leones (#8) in Santo Domingo and hope to secure a win.
